The Aille River Hostel is a 300-year-old cottage lovingly renovated to retain its old world charm while offering modern comforts for our friends and guests. Located by the banks of the Aille River, the Aille River Hostel is a quiet oasis right in the centre of Doolin. Voted Best Hostel in Ireland in 2009 by IHH customers and Number 1 Hostel in Ireland in 2008 by Hostel World customers, Aille River hostel is recommended by the Lonely Planet travel guides as “The best of the bunch” and has been given the Thumbs Up by Let’s Go travel guides.

Our Location

If it’s traditional Irish music you want, we are a five minute walk from any pub, where you can hear or play traditional music every night of the week. To get away from it all, a ten minute stroll down a country lane will take you to the wild Atlantic coast and the barren limestone landscape, the beginning of the Burren. A stunning walk down the coast will bring you to the famous Cliffs of Moher. Aille River Hostel is a perfect base for exploring the landscapes and seascapes of this magical corner of Ireland.

Warm Welcomes

Having been in operation for 20 years, we welcome back many return visitors who say that coming back to the Aille River Hostel is like returning home. On a cold evening the turf fire beckons, when the sky is blue and the grassy banks of the river invite one for a snooze in the sun, and whatever the weather, the atmosphere is always warm and friendly. We welcome people of all ages and have accommodation to suit your needs: 4-8 bed dorms, double rooms, private rooms en suite, family rooms en suite and camping with full use of the hostel facilities.

Breakfast is now provided for a small fee.

Please browse our site to become familiar with Doolin, it’s surrounding famous sites and all the Aille River Hostel has to offer. If you are coming to Doolin, we hope that this is only an introduction and that we’ll be seeing you soon!

See for Yourself!

We’ve uploaded some photos of the hostel and the surrounding area to our Flickr account, enjoy!
